English Premier League Broadcast Rights Agreement: What You Need to Know

The English Premier League has signed a new local television broadcasting rights agreement that will last for four years, starting from the 2025-2026 season. The total value of this agreement was announced as 6.7 billion pounds (approximately 245 billion Turkish Liras).

According to the statement made by the league management, Sky and TNT television channels will be part of this record agreement to broadcast at least 270 live matches every season. It was also stated that BBC Sport will continue to present the important moments of the matches.

All agreements with these three channels will be valid from the 2025/26 football season and will last for four years. This agreement was recorded as the largest broadcast rights agreement signed in the field of sports media in the history of the United Kingdom.

The Premier League had previously signed a three-year broadcast rights agreement for the 2022-2023 seasons, and the value of this agreement was announced as £5.1 billion.

SUPER LEAGUE INCREASED BY APPROXIMATELY 100

A new era has begun regarding the broadcasting rights of the Super League, for which a 2.2 billion lira agreement was reached with broadcaster beIN Sports last season. As part of the two-year agreement, there will be a significant increase in broadcasting fees for the second season.

According to the annual consumer price index (CPI) data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute as of May 2023, the broadcast fee increased by 39.59 percent. With this increase, the amount to be paid by beIN Sports reached 2 billion 635 million 490 thousand liras, an increase of 19,795 percent. This means that the broadcasting rights of the Super League have increased by 435 million 490 thousand liras as of this season.

After deducting the share of the federation and lower leagues from the broadcasting revenues, the total payment to the clubs was determined as 2 billion 55 million 682 thousand lira. 37 percent of this amount will be distributed equally to 20 Super League teams. As a result of this distribution, each Super League team will add 38 million 30 thousand liras to its coffers for this season.
