After filming the new A24 film, Nicolas Cage announced that he plans to retire from acting in the next few years. In an interview with Uproxx, the actor said that he has three or four more films ahead that he plans to make, and then he wants to leave cinema and focus on a new format.
Now, after 45 years of working on more than 100 films, I feel that I have said everything I wanted to say about cinema. Therefore, I would like to leave as best as possible and say “Adios”. I guess I have three or four more films to do before that, after which I hope to change formats and find a different way to express my craft.
The actor also said that he will be more careful in choosing his next films and that he plans to act on television in the future.
I saw Bryan Cranston in Breaking Bad looking at a suitcase for an hour, and in film we don’t have time for that, so maybe television is the next step for me.
In 2023, Cage appeared in several films, including The Hero of Our Dreams and Renfield. The actor’s upcoming releases include Oz Perkins’ horror film Soul Collector.
