The international actor revealed will Smith revealed new information about the second part of the movie I Am Legend, and revealed the second part of the upcoming zombie movie, in which Creed star Michael B. Jordan will also participate.
For the film, Robert Neville will be reprising his role, Smith said, confirming that I Am Legend 2 will retcon the ending of the original film, and will instead follow an alternate ending, adding to Variety: “I have a call with Michael B. Jordan, we are very close,” Smith said. The script has arrived, and to be honest you have to be a true I Am Legend fan to wait for it, but in the first version my character dies, but on the DVD there was an alternate version of the ending where my character lived, and we go with the legends of the DVD version, I can’t tell you which Something more, but Michael B. Jordan is there.”
Earlier this year, the sequel’s producer and writer, Akiva Goldsman, also confirmed that the film would feature a time jump. “This will pick up a few decades after the first decade,” Goldsman said. “I’m obsessed with The Last of Us, where we see the world right after the apocalypse.” But also 20 to 30 years later.”
“Where you see the Earth reclaiming the world,” Goldsman continued, “and there’s something beautiful in asking, when man moves away from being the primary tenant, what happens? That will be particularly visible in New York. I don’t know if they’ll go up to the Empire State Building, but chances are Countless”.
The first I Am Legend film, adapted from Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel of the same name, was directed by Francis Lawrence in 2007, starring Smith as virologist Robert Neville, the sole survivor of a man-made plague that turns humans into bloodthirsty monsters. Who follow him as he fights to find a cure.
