Nine People with Dutch Link Leave Gaza Strip, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Reports

Dec 4, 2023 at 6:08 PM Update: 35 minutes ago

Nine people with a Dutch link have left the Gaza Strip. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was in contact with them.

This concerns people with Dutch nationality, their possible family members or people with Dutch residence status, a spokesperson for the ministry told NU.nl on Monday. The ministry does not make any statements about the composition of the group.

The people have traveled to Egypt via the border at Rafah. There they were received by representatives of Belgium. These representatives then took the nine to the Egyptian capital Cairo.

The Dutch embassy provides the group with assistance and accompanies the people to the Netherlands. For privacy reasons, the ministry does not want to say how the return journey will proceed.

The ministry is currently still in contact with sixteen people in the Gaza Strip. Since November 2, 36 people the ministry has contacted have been able to leave Gaza.
