You might also be able to turn it around.
Why would people pay €50 for a streaming service that licenses almost all conceivable content?
The total price may be higher due to fragmentation, but why do you need 8 services at the same time?
Just like Amazon, HBO and Disney, this service takes a smart approach by also offering an annual subscription.
Netflix does not do this, so you are more likely to pause it for a month.
It may take some administration and effort, but I only subscribe to the services I want to watch at that moment. Where only Disney+ is the constant factor, because my children aged 7 and 8 rely on it.
But I also know that the streaming market is starting to become more adult, the large companies now know that it is no longer a growth market and want to get their income primarily from this source.
If a company like Netflix has to license all content, this will have to be an extremely expensive subscription.
The fact that they do not offer everything also ensures that their negotiations are stronger. They can say “we don’t want you”, which ensures that the program/filmmakers will not demand the utmost for their production.
Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t mind paying €40 a month for a streaming service that has almost everything, with which I can also access everything from one interface.
But I belong to the small minority who are willing and able to pay for this.
