PM meeting and the 4 candidates: still no consensus, another meeting called

CONAKRY- The meeting between Prime Minister Doctor Bernad Goumou and the 4 candidates engaged in the electoral process for the election of the future executive committee has just ended at the prime minister’s office. And as was to be expected at the end of this meeting which lasted around twenty minutes, there was no compromise.

The Prime Minister immediately appointed Antonio Souaré as mediator in this crisis. The latter and KPC, outside the country, were absent during this meeting, as was Salifou Camara Super V.

« The Prime Minister has taken stock of the situation. He scheduled us again this Wednesday. We made him aware of the risks facing Guinea. He will seek legal advice from his office. On Wednesday, we will come with proposals. Some have spoken, others say they are behind the state’s decision. But, we told the PM to consult his legal department because we have a threat of sanction on our heads if we reinstate the candidate already disqualified by the electoral appeal commission. The Prime Minister has appointed Antonio Souaré as mediator, but it will already be a failure because a candidate has bluntly said that the mediator will not succeed » explains a source at the Prime Minister present at this meeting.

On Wednesday, the four candidates are still expected at the Prime Minister’s house, who reportedly promised that if there is no agreement between the protagonists, the Guinean government would take its responsibilities. It should be remembered that in the event of pressure from the Guinean state, Guinea would risk a sanction, because this act could be seen as interference by the authorities, something that FIFA prohibits and sanctions.
