Bulgaria Ratifies Agreement to Provide Armored Vehicles to Ukraine

Radev reportedly returned for a new discussion in parliament the law on the ratification of the agreement, according to which Bulgaria provides armored vehicles to Ukraine free of charge.

The reasons for the veto noted that the people’s representatives are not sufficiently familiar with the specific supply parameters, which makes it impossible to objectively assess the need for the provided equipment.

Radev emphasized that the armored all-terrain vehicles provided to Ukraine can be used specifically to protect the Bulgarian border and help the population in the event of disasters and accidents, including in hard-to-reach areas.

“I am guided by the conviction that the safety, health and life of Bulgarian citizens must be a priority,” said the Bulgarian President.

Help to Ukraine from Bulgaria

Since the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Bulgaria has been providing Ukraine with various assistance. Thus, the Bulgarian parliament recently voted behind closed doors for the supply of unusable S-300 missiles to Ukraine.

Recently, the Bulgarian parliament ratified an agreement on the supply of armored personnel carriers to Ukraine.

The agreement stipulates that Bulgaria will supply armored personnel carriers and weapons, as well as spare parts and all surplus to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The armored personnel carriers were acquired decades ago by the communist regime of the time.
