The Minister of Education and Science, Galin Tsokov, announced at a briefing that Mariana Lozanova, head of the “Control Activities” department at the Ministry of Education and Culture, died in a ridiculous accident on Friday evening.
Tsokov expressed his condolences to her relatives and colleagues.
It turned out that she was one of the victims of the serious accident that happened on December 1 on the road between Shipka and Kazanlak, which we previously reported to you about.
A car crashed into a traffic light, which it was driving backwards to turn around. A 70-year-old man and his daughter died on the spot. A child was also in the car, who was not injured
A car crashed into a truck between Shipka and Kazanlak, two are dead
Alexander Prodanov, who survived the serious accident near Buzludzha, wrote a heartbreaking post on social networks. His aunt and grandfather died in the accident. Alexander is a student of physics at “St. Kliment Ohridski” SU and is one of Bulgaria’s outstanding students with numerous international awards from Olympiads in physics and astronomy.
Here’s what else he writes:
“On December 1, at around 8 p.m., a car accident occurred at the junction for Buzludzha (on the Kazanlak-Shipka road) between a truck and a small car in which I, my aunt and my grandfather were. Only I survived the accident with practically no consequences, remembering every second of what happened.
There is not much to say about the crash and the reasons behind it… Ridiculous! But isn’t every accident ridiculous – always the result of non-observance or non-observance of safety rules? Rules that are simple and self-evident. Why had this truck stopped at the turn, occupying the entire right lane? I do not know. Why didn’t this gun emit any light to indicate that there was something ahead? I do not know.
The only thing I will say is that seat belts in cars are not for decoration. The belt saves life! The loss is heavy. Two of my dearest and closest people have gone before me. But, alas, sometimes such things happen, and one must look forward… because of them!
In the face of my grandfather – Stefan Andreev Kartunov, and in the face of my aunt – Mariana Stefanova Lozanova, I see people who always cared about me, were always there for me when I needed them, and from whom I learned a lot – both knowledge , as well as things about life, morality and goodness. For me, they are people with principles, with morals and boundless kindness.
Grandfather was a good, honest, devoted and principled man with a truly good heart. I have learned a lot from him, for which I am grateful to you, grandfather! I learned hard work and discipline in all of our small and not so small construction projects. I had my first exposure to trigonometry from his construction manual. I learned to lose in endless games of chess as a child. Even though we didn’t get to finish our belot game last time, I’m sure you would have gotten very lucky and pulled out some 50,100,150 or even 200. Honestly, I couldn’t have had a better grandpa and I’m sorry I couldn’t let me tell you earlier.
Leya was a good, honest, purposeful, devoted and extremely principled person. It is largely thanks to her that I had this wonderful childhood and in her person I have always found understanding, support and a person ready to help in any way she can. I have learned and gained so much from you Aunty – thank you! Every time she came to visit from Sofia, I waited impatiently, and she always came with some new encyclopedia or toy with which I could learn new things. He was a wonderful conversationalist and someone I could always count on. I couldn’t have found a better aunt and I’m sorry I couldn’t tell you sooner.
They both led dignified lives and raised healthy and loving families. What more could one ask for? Both of them are role models for me and I plan to be like them – dedicated, loving, supportive – a real Human.
They are gone now. But we continue to love them, we continue to appreciate and be grateful for everything we have received and learned from them, for every warm and kind word, for every wide and hearty smile. That it will be difficult, it will be difficult; that we will miss them, we will miss them. If not for our sake, then for their sake we must be strong and look forward. This is our debt to them, this is our thanks to them, this is our love for them, this is that little part of them in us through which they continue to be a part of our lives.
I am grateful to have survived – and without any consequences. One would think: Why me? Why did I survive and not one of the others? The answer: Well, just like that. There is no benefit in thinking in this direction. It just happened that way. I am not ungrateful and therefore I will try to make the most of the time I have left, at least for the sake of those who were not that “lucky”. I know they were very proud of me and had high hopes for me. I promise that I will do everything to fulfill these hopes of theirs and justify their trust. At least I can do that and I owe it to them!
Thanks for everything dear grandpa and dear aunt! I love you,” wrote Prodanov.
