celebritiesThe concert of superstar Madonna (65) in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam started earlier on Saturday evening than on Friday. At the first performance, the Queen of Pop was not on stage until 10:30 PM, an hour and a half late, meaning the performance lasted until 12:45 AM. Several fans reported that this prevented them from seeing much of the concert as they had to leave to catch the train.
Hundreds of fans had to leave the Ziggo Dome around midnight or earlier on Friday evening to catch the last train. This led to many complaints on social media. Concert organizer Mojo also did not know why Madonna kept fans waiting for an hour and a half, although the singer does have a reputation in that area.
Madonna’s second concert of ‘The Celebration Tour’ started not an hour and a half, but an hour later than planned. At 10 p.m. the singer made her appearance on the big stage in Amsterdam. “It’s a Christmas miracle,” fans wrote on X. Some visitors still had to leave the Ziggo Dome around midnight on Saturday. But they now only missed ten minutes of the performance, at 00.10 Madonna was ready.
There were hardly any complaints on social media during the night from Saturday to Sunday. The concert, in which the music icon took a journey through her long and prolific career, received rave reviews. A moving moment was a monologue she gave about all the friends she lost to AIDS in the 1980s. Madonna has been drawing attention to the consequences of the disease all her life, not only in Western countries but also in Africa. After the monologue she sang a moving acoustic version of ‘I will survive’ by Gloria Gaynor.
