Re-release of notable films is common these days. There is a large number of young moviegoers who have not been able to watch cult films with huge fan followings in theatres. The producers are mainly targeting them as the audience for the re-release films. And the older generation who saw the film once in theaters are expected to come for a refreshed visual and audio experience through the remastering. This has become a trend in Tamil cinema now. After Baasha and Baba, two more major films are all set to hit the theaters again.
Muthu (1995) directed by KS Ravikumar starring Rajinikanth and Suresh Krishna’s Aalavanthan (2001) with Kamal Haasan in a double role are being prepared for re-release. If Muthu was a big success, Alavanthan was a huge failure. It is also interesting that these two films will reach Tamil Nadu and other places on the same day. Both the films are releasing on December 8.
But the Telugu version of Muthu reached the Telugu states earlier. It was Saturday the 2nd. The booking for this has also started earlier. But Telugu media reports that all the screenings of the film in Telugu states have been canceled due to lack of audience. But the makers are hoping that people will come to see the film in the Tamil Nadu release on December 8.
