In order to donate more than two thousand blankets to low-income people in Tulum, the local DIF invited society in general to participate in the “Sheltering with Love” campaign.
Given this, the honorary president of the DIF Quintana Roo System, Verónica Lezama, invited businessmen and other organizations to contribute by donating blankets that will be delivered to people who need them most to mitigate the cold this winter season.
During her recent visit to Tulum, the official explained that this campaign has already started and has the goal of raising more than two thousand blankets and blankets, which will be received at the DIF offices of each municipality. She commented that last year they raised more than two thousand and they hope that this year the population will also support this cause.
He noted that for the delivery they will give priority to the communities of the Mayan zone of the state and each of the 11 municipalities that have transitional houses where they care for and house older adults or vulnerable people, to whom they will also donate these blankets.
“It is called Sheltering with Love (the campaign) and in it we call for all citizens and business people to join in. We as a state are receiving in the DIF of Chetumal, but we are going to invite all the DIF to be the collection centers and this aid will be distributed equally to all municipalities and we invite citizens to donate a blanket “, held.
He explained that, although heat predominates in the state, cold times are also strong in the Mayan communities because they are surrounded by jungles that increase low temperatures.
“Let us remember that we live in a place where the heat can predominate, but this time of year it is cold and especially in the most remote communities where the homes are a little more precarious and where we are in the middle of the jungle, it is much colder and for These covers are destined for these people,” said Lezama Espinosa.
