“We are facing an empire of corruption”: Transform Chile requests contracts from the “lawyer of the powerful” Luis Hermosilla with the State

As the “lawyer of the powerful” Luis Hermosilla was pointed out by the Transformation Movement after this morning they submitted a request to the Council for Transparency, which seeks to know the possible contracts that the questioned lawyer has had with different state departments.

The request is made in the context of the noisy Audios case, where crimes such as the payment of bribes to officials of the Internal Revenue Service (SII) and the Financial Market Commission (CMF) were exposed to avoid payments and fines. The audio reveals a meeting where lawyers Luis Hermosilla and Leonarda Villalobos, representatives of businessman Daniel Sauer, allegedly bribed public officials in order to obtain information about the case against Factop, Sauer’s company.

Specifically, the request submitted today requests “report on all acts and/or contracts, entered into by Mr. Luis Hermosilla and/or Mrs. Leonarda Villalobos, both lawyers by profession, with the bodies of the State Administration.” The document adds that “for the purposes of avoiding the application of the cause for denying information called “undue distraction”, the limited period for which the information is requested is from 2018 to 2023.”

Several representatives of the Transform Chile movement were present at the event, including deputy Hernán Palma, who pointed out that the action seeks to “know if there are signs of corruption with State departments.”

The parliamentarian stated that he will also urge that the Special Investigative Commissions formed by this case in Congress expand the implications of this investigation. “If not, we are going to make the effort to generate a third Special Investigative Commission, because limiting it only to the Internal Revenue Service and the Commission for the Financial Market is to exclude the political class, and the time has to come for whoever falls.” fall”.

Along the same lines, the president of Transformar Chile Pablo Sepúlveda pointed out that the action is necessary due to the installation of “a true empire of corruption.”

“Corruption and theft by collar-and-tie criminals cannot continue to be swept under the rug. Chile can no longer tolerate abuses. The first step to Transform Chile is for those who are putting a price on justice, who detract from it, face their responsibilities before the communities and also before the corresponding justice bodies,” he stated.

For the vice president of Transformar Chile, Carla Meyer, “for a political project like Transformar, seeking the connections of the Hermosilla case is essential. It is not a limited topic. It is very likely that this situation will occur in other spaces and in other ranks, therefore, transparency must always come first, clean hands will always come first,” she added.

For the councilor of Villa Alemana, Maria Fernanda Ternicier, “going head-on in the face of hypocrisy and misappropriation of public funds is going against the powerful. And that is what we are doing, we are going against the lawyer of the powerful: Hermosilla.”

For the national leader of Transformar Chile, Karla Huerta, “corruption is unacceptable, politics must be at the service of the people and society.”

Finally, Jorge Sharp, also a member of Transformar Chile, explained that “the Audios case is about to become another corruption scandal that shakes the country, which is why it is very important to know if the State has signed contracts and if those contracts comply. the law. Therefore, we hope that this information arrives as soon as possible because we think that it may constitute serious cases of corruption in the face of this fact that has scandalized public opinion in the country.”
