Mayor Vitaly Klitschko in Kyiv comes in an interview with sharp criticism of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The interview in the Swiss newspaper 20 minutes gets a lot of attention on Sunday in both Ukraine and Russia, writes the news agency DPA.
– People ask why we were not better prepared for this war, why Zelenskyy ultimately denied that this would happen, says Klitschko.
He supports Ukraine’s military commander-in-chief, Valeryj Zaluzhnyj, who was criticized a month ago for claiming that the war had stalled.
– He told the truth. Sometimes people don’t want to hear the truth. But ultimately, Zaluzhnyj is responsible.
– Naturally, we can lie euphorically to our people and our partners, but you can’t do that forever, says Klitschko in the interview.
