The man was born in France in 1997 and has French nationality. Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin reports that the suspect was convicted in 2016 of preparing an attack.
The man is said to be known to the authorities as a radical Islamist and for psychiatric problems, a police source previously told the news agency AFP. According to the same police source, the suspect stated that he could not tolerate the killing of Muslims in the Gaza Strip and Afghanistan. According to him, France in particular is “complicit” in Israel’s war in Gaza.
