Co-Captain of the National Team AMIN, Sudirman Said admitted that he had been scolded by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in the e-KTP corruption case involving the then Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR), Setya Novanto (Setnov).

At that time, Sudirman served as Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources. He claimed that the President had summoned him to the Palace because he had reported Setnov to the DPR Honorary Council (MKD).

The report is related to the polemic over the ‘papa asked for shares’ case which also dragged Setnov’s name.

“When I reported Pak Novanto’s case to the MKD, the President was angry, I was strongly reprimanded and accused as if someone had ordered it or someone was controlling it,” said Sudirman while accompanying Anies Baswedan at the PWI Office, Jakarta, Friday (1/12).

This case is a political scandal that dragged Setnov’s name after allegedly using President Jokowi’s name to ask for shares in PT Freeport Indonesia.

Sudirman then opened a recording of Setnov’s conversation with businessman Riza Chalid and Freeport Director Maroef Sjamsoeddin during his report hearing at the DPR MKD. In the recording, Setnov also mentioned the name Luhut Binsar Panjaitan (Chief of Presidential Staff) 66 times. Luhut denied involvement and was summoned by the MKD Council.

Two weeks after Sudirman’s report, or to be precise on November 16 2015, Setnov stated that he would resign from his position as Chairman of the DPR.

Then two years later, Setnov became a suspect in the e-KTP corruption case.

Previously, information related to Jokowi’s anger was also previously conveyed by former Corruption Eradication Committee Chairman, Agus Raharjo when investigating the e-KTP case which also involved Setnov. Meanwhile, Sudirman regretted the attacks from his superiors.

“So I regret that this happened and this is evidence of systematic attacks, some of which apparently came from leaders,” said Fajri.

Currently, Sudirman is part of the successful team of the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair who are often at odds with the current government. They bring a narrative of change in their political campaign programs.

On the other hand, Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana denied Sudirman’s confession.

Ari said the President appreciated the open steps taken by MKD towards Setnov.

“It is not true that President Jokowi scolded Sudirman Said for reporting Setya Novanto (then chairman of the DPR) to the MKD in 2015,” explained Ari, Saturday (2/12).

“In fact, the President, as stated by Mr. Sudirman Said on December 7 2015 at the Palace, actually really appreciates the open process that has been carried out by MKD and continues to follow it from various media and its staff,” said Ari.
