Vitamins are substances that help regulate the functions of each organ in the body, stabilize nerves, regulate physiology, promote brain activity, and generate energy by normally oxidizing the three essential nutrients, carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.

Vitamins can be divided into fat-soluble and water-soluble. Fat-soluble vitamins that dissolve in oil include vitamins A, D, E, and K. These types are better absorbed when consumed after frying in oil. However, because it is not excreted on its own and accumulates in the body, excessive intake can cause toxicity.

Water-soluble vitamins that easily dissolve in water include vitamin B complex and vitamin C. It does not accumulate in the body and can be excreted through urine when consumed in excess, so there are no special side effects, but regular supply is necessary.

Vitamin A, a fat-soluble vitamin, can help promote antioxidant activity and immunity. It is involved in the development of bones and teeth, and also affects the production of eyes, skin, and mucous membranes and vision. Vitamin A deficiency can cause symptoms of night blindness, blindness, dry skin, decreased immunity, and decreased bone development, while excess can cause jaundice, headache, vomiting, and petechiae.

Vitamin D is typically involved in bone health. In addition, it helps regulate teeth and muscle development, kidney function, and is effective in improving immunity. Deficiency can result in stunted growth in children and osteomalacia and osteoporosis in adults. Excessive intake may cause hypercalcemia and kidney stones.

Vitamin E is an antioxidant vitamin that is effective in removing free radicals, preventing red blood cell hemolysis, eye health, and anti-cancer. In case of deficiency, red blood cell rupture may occur, and in case of excess, blood coagulation function may decrease.

Vitamin K can help with hemostasis, anti-cancer, protein activation, and prevention of osteoporosis. In case of deficiency, blood may not coagulate, and in case of excess, jaundice and hemolytic anemia may occur.

Vitamin B complex, a water-soluble vitamin, can promote energy metabolism, alcohol decomposition, cell regeneration, removal of free radicals, red blood cell production, and metabolism. Deficiency may cause beriberi, loss of appetite, constipation, depression, stomatitis, and bloodshot eyes.

Vitamin C can be effective in hormone synthesis, infection resistance, improved iron absorption, and antioxidant properties. If intake is deficient, wound healing time may be prolonged, and symptoms such as teeth development and growth disorders, scurvy, and diarrhea may appear.
