It has become very common to see games released in an unfinished state as an Early Access project, so that the developers can absorb player feedback as they continue to complete the project. Baldur’s Gate III is a very positive and prominent example of how this can be used, but there have also been many cases where this choice has been detrimental to the paying consumer.
In a change that goes against recent tradition, developers at Kappa Bits have decided to ditch the planned Early Access launch of the Stardew Valley-like indie life sim game Pixelshire and instead launch the game as a full-fledged product in 1.0 version.
Kappa Bits writes in the press release that the decision was “taking into account the players and the quality of the game” and that this “ensuring it launches in its most polished form”.
Skipping Early Access and instead aiming for an unconfirmed 2024 launch date, we’re told the development team is in the process of creating new features for the title to improve the gameplay experience and “exceed your expectations.”
Will you be checking out Pixelshire when it launches next year?
