New trucks carrying aid entered the Gaza Strip on Saturday. It is the first aid convoy allowed to cross the border with Egypt since the war resumed on Friday. Talks on a new ceasefire between Israel and Hamas have stalled in Qatar.

Israel resumed the offensive against Hamas on Friday morning. “They did not adhere to the truce,” he said Reuters the Israeli army. Hamas is said to have fired a rocket into Israel before the deadline. According to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Hamas has also not released as many female hostages as agreed.

Since Friday morning, 193 Palestinians have been killed and another 650 others injured, the Palestinian Health Ministry said. That is under the control of Hamas, but Friday’s casualty numbers are considered reliable by other international organizations.

New calls stuck

Press agency Reuters initially reported on Saturday that talks on a new fighting pause were resuming. An Israeli intelligence team is said to have landed in the Qatari capital Doha to talk to a Qatari and a Palestinian delegation. Qatari mediators are said to be trying to broker a new pause in fighting.

Shortly afterwards it became apparent that the talks had stalled again. The Israeli delegation has been recalled from Qatar.
