One of them can activate DLSS 3 and FSR 3 technologies together to increase the game frame rate by 3 times

Both DLSS 3 and FSR 3 share support for “Frame Generation” technology by artificial intelligence to improve gaming performance, but DLSS 3 requires RTX 40 cards, while FSR 3 is compatible with a wide range of other cards from Nvidia and Intel. Of course, both technologies cannot be activated simultaneously via the same graphics card, but what about two cards?

I’ve thought about the site Quasar Zone There is a crazy idea, which is to combine DLSS 3 and FSR 3 technologies together through the same graphics processing path, by using two cards that are compatible with both technologies. An RTX 40 series card and another card that is compatible with FSR 3 technology. The purpose is to achieve the best possible performance, or the biggest jump in performance in a more correct sense.

Disclaimer: This experiment increases the frame rate significantly, but it is not without problems.

To implement the experiment, Quasar Zone connected an FSR 3-compatible RX 6600 card to the main monitor, and then manually selected a DLSS 3-compatible RTX 4090 card for rendering. The goal is for the processing process to take place via the RTX 4090 card with DLSS 3 technology activated, and then the outputs are transferred to the RX 6600 card with FSR 3 technology activated.

The result of this experiment is that the frame rate increased by 290% with the game Cyberpunk 2077, and increased by 200% when activating FSR 3 technology only, or by 147% when activating DLSS 3 technology only, at 4K resolution and Ultra settings and without activating ray tracing technology, and this is shown from In the image below, note that the abbreviation for frame generation technology via FSR 3 is AFMF and its abbreviation for DLSS is FG.

As we mentioned before, this experiment is not without problems and does not always provide the best performance, as the overall frame rate will increase significantly, but the minimum frame rate during 1% of the experiment will decrease a lot, and this means that the performance will not be stable, as it may decrease sharply in Some moments. Also, this experiment requires a computer with two graphics cards, which increases power consumption dramatically, not to mention heat.

We hope that this exciting experience will encourage modders and unofficial developers to take advantage of these two technologies and make it possible to combine them together in games for users who have two graphics cards and want to push their computer’s performance to its limits. And who knows, perhaps after many years we may see games that support the activation of DLSS and FSR technologies together. .
