The 2023 post-season test for the FIA Formula 2 driver’s rights has reached its final day at Yas Marina Circuit, with Ritomo Miyata completing a total of 63 laps. She finished the three-day test in fourth place in the afternoon session, 1.126 seconds behind the leader. On the morning of the final day of running in 2023, Isaac Hajar was the top driver, setting the fastest time in the No. 21 Campos Racing car.
The French driver’s 1 minute 35.958 seconds was the best time of the day, while MP Motorsport’s Dennis Hauger was the afternoon leader with a 1 minute 35.996 seconds, marking the end of the 2023 track race. On the final day of the morning test, Juan Manuel Correa set a time of 1 minute 37 seconds from the start, and Jack Crawford recorded a time of 1 minute 36.551 seconds, making it 1-2 for DAMS. Next was Franco Colapinto of MP Motorsport who set the fastest time. The Argentine driver was within 0.090 seconds of Crawford in the first 20 minutes. Hajar was second overall after 30 minutes, but Campos went on to take the lead with a time of 1:36.180. The first red flag of the day was brought out after Roda Carlin’s Zane Maroney stopped on the track. The session resumed with just over two hours remaining. Several drivers were able to find areas for improvement, including Hajar himself, who improved his time to 1:36.066. He then became the first driver to run in the 1:35 range, further increasing his advantage in first place with a time of 1:35.958. A second red flag was shown after two stops occurred on the first DRS straight between Turns 5 and 6. Oliver Bearman and Paul Aaron were recovered with more than an hour and a half left in the morning session. There was little improvement in overall lap times for the remainder of the session, with the focus being on long stints rather than single-lap pace. The final red flag was brought out with 20 minutes remaining by Christian Mansell, making his first run for Trident. Ritomo Miyata was 20th after completing 30 laps. She returned to the green for a final 10-minute dash, but no other driver could match Hajar in the 35-second range. Van Amersfoort Racing’s Rafael Villagomez remained the busiest, recording 55 laps.
