Jakarta –
Inside the MRT, many people are glued to their cellphone screens. But, at least don’t do this when you get off the train, at a station where there are lots of people passing by. At least, that’s the message one person wants to convey TikToker with the user Yay4jenna (Jenna).
Jenna has moved to Singapore 10 months ago and is used to traveling by public transportation. Usually, he would climb up MRT.
It’s not that he doesn’t like people who use cellphones while on the MRT, but it would be dangerous if their eyes were still glued to the cellphone screen in the middle of a busy station (especially Chinatown Station).
“Put down your cell phone,” he said softly. “When you look at your phone, you lose spatial awareness and your movements are unpredictable. People can’t get close to you efficiently,” continues Jenna.

Not only does it endanger yourself and those around you, playing with your cellphone at the MRT station also causes other problems. There will always be ‘congestion’ when entering and exiting escalators which is made worse by passengers constantly using their mobile phones.
In the comments column of Jenna’s TikTok video, people wrote their opinions. Most agree with what Jenna said.
“Cute words, ma’am! That’s the biggest problem when walking around public places in Singapore. Hopefully this video will go viral ๐๐ฝ,” said netizens.
“I can relate to that,” said another.
“The solution to this problem is to say excuse me and walk. Adapt to the surrounding environment. Peace ๐,” said one netizen.
“Totally agree with you, why do people have to watch dramas while walking? especially in the middle of a crowd? everyone is staring at their phones,” complained netters.
