In the match of the 5th round of the group stage of the Europa League, Liverpool defeated the Austrian LASK (4:0) at home. This victory allowed the Reds to repeat the club’s 38-year-old record.
The victory over LASK was the 10th victory for the Reds in 10 opening home matches. Previously, the Merseysiders had a similar streak in the 1893/94 season (16 wins), then in the 1972/73 season (11 wins) and in 1985/86 (13 wins).
Let us add that after 5 rounds of the group stage, Liverpool alone leads the standings. In addition, the Merseysiders guaranteed themselves first place in the group and thus automatically qualify for the 1/8 finals of the Europa League.
