India’s young opener Rituraj Gaekwad on the historic achievement in the 4th T20I against Australia. Gaekwad has become the fastest Indian player to complete 4000 runs in the T20 format.

Gaekwad’s pursuit of a breakthrough came after he completed seven runs in the match at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur.

Gaekwad reached the milestone of 4000 runs in the 116th innings of the 121st match. Apart from the Indian national team, the player has only batted for Chennai Super Kings and Maharashtra at the domestic level in T20Is.

Before the fourth T20I against the Aussies, the player was scoring runs at an average of 38.76 and a strike rate of 139.37.

The star has five centuries and 27 fifties in T20. Gaekwad’s last T20 century was at Guwahati’s Barsapara Stadium. It was also the star’s first international T20 century.

Gaekwad scored 490 runs from 16 innings in 18 matches at the international level (before the fourth T20I). Gaekwad has an average of 37.69 and a strike rate of 142.03 at international level.

Meanwhile, Gaikwad is out after scoring 32 runs off 28 balls in Raipur. The player scored at a strike rate of 114.29 including three fours and one six.

India are currently 134 for four after 16 overs. Jitesh Sharma with 19 runs off 11 balls and Rinku Singh with 29 runs off 20 balls are at the crease.
