EU leaders will personally ask Xi Jinping to stop supplies to the Russian Federation of sanctioned goods that could be used in the war against Ukraine.
EU leaders, including the heads of the European Council and the European Commission, Charles Michel and Ursula von der Leyen, as well as the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, intend to visit Beijing on December 7-8. They will try to convince the leadership of the PRC and personally the head of the Communist Party, Xi Jinping, to stop transferring sanctioned goods to Russia, the producers of which are Western companies officially registered in China.
Writes about this The Moscow Times with reference to Chinese media.
Top EU officials will bring with them a list of 13 such companies that are circumventing EU sanctions. This issue has already been agreed upon with the leading EU economies, including Germany and France.
The decision of the Chinese leader will determine whether to include these firms in the 12th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation, about which heated debate continues in the European Union and its adoption is eagerly awaited in Kiev in the hope that the mechanism for preventing the Kremlin from circumventing sanctions through third countries will begin work.
We previously wrote that China supplies military technologies to the Russian Federation, deceiving sanctions with “dual use.”
In addition, a top US official will visit Turkey to demand sanctions against the Russian Federation.
