Kasselakis in SYRIZA’s KO: Some did not respect the Code of Conduct they signed to hand over their seats

With regards to his departed deputies SYRIZA he started his speech Stefanos Kasselakis in the Parliamentary Group of the party.

SYRIZA: Message of support to Kasselakis from Tsipras with presence at the meeting of the Parliamentary Group

Stefanos Kasselakis constantly referred to the 48 MPs who make up the SYRIZA Parliamentary Group, meaningfully emphasizing that there should be others while making it clear that it matters who they are in this Parliament.

“You may see fewer colleagues in the chamber today, and it seems unprecedented, but the reality is that SYRIZA in this chamber once had 149 MPs. Then he was 145. Then 86. Then 71. And finally 47.

In other words, we lost 68% of our Parliamentary strength in 9 years. Obviously, within 9 years, the country changes. Society is also changing. Unfortunately, the conclusion is that gradually there was a disconnection between SYRIZA and society. A distance between SYRIZA’s political proposal and social changes.

This is the reality that we are now called to reverse. And don’t worry we are now 36 MPs. Our ethical Parliamentary presence is and will be 47 MPs – because that is what the Greek people chose. That some did not respect the Code of Conduct they signed to surrender their seats…

The fact that for months they did not appear ONCE on the channels to accuse the insults of the system against SYRIZA, while now they have taken a stand on the channels against the very voters who elected them MPs…

That they put ambition above society… The Greek people and the people of SYRIZA know this well – and they are not going to forgive them. Don’t worry….the truth is on our side. It’s just that sometimes, justice has its own times.

A minute’s silence for Vassilis Vasilikos
At the beginning of his speech, Stefanos Kasselakis mentioned the death of Vassilis Vasilikos, for which he held a minute’s silence.

“It’s a heavy day today. Because if for all of Greece Vassilis Vasilikos was the writer who spoke with History and Democracy, for us he was something else: Our partner.

The man who graced the first place of the SYRIZA – PS national ballot in 2019. The member of parliament who graced the Greek parliament in the period 2019 – 2023 with his ethos and personality. A personality few have. Those who can become the recorders of their century. To turn the historical drama of their country into a global event.”
