Studio by Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser announces first two projects

Absurd Ventures, the new studio from Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser, has announced its first two projects. The studio is working on one graphic novel and an ‘audio drama’. Both projects will be released next year.

The two titles from Absurd Ventures to be named A Better Paradise in American Caper. The former concerns the audio drama, which consists of twelve episodes. According to the studio, it is an ‘existential thriller’ set in the near future. The title is made in collaboration with audio production company Qcode Media.

The graphic novel American Caper, in turn, focuses on ‘two normal, deeply damaged American families in a world of corrupt business, inept politics and clumsy crime’. That story is illustrated by Simon Bisley, best known for his work on comics such as ABC Warriors and Lobo.

Both titles will be released sometime in 2024. Absurd Ventures is not sharing any concrete release dates yet. The company says it will share more details ‘in the coming months’. The studio calls A Better Paradise and American Caper its “first two universes” and will release other stories later.

Absurd Ventures was announced in June. This concerns the new studio of Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser, who left the GTA developer in 2020 after working there for twenty years. Earlier this week it was announced that Lawzlow Jones and Mike Unsworth, also two Rockstar veterans, would be joining Absurd Ventures.
