Two gunmen have committed an attack in Jerusalem. They opened fire on a bus stop on the outskirts of the city.
Three people have died: a 24-year-old woman, a 70-year-old man and an older woman whose age has not been released. According to the Minister of Religious Affairs, the slain man is a rabbi. At least six people were injured, two of them seriously.
Both attackers were shot dead by soldiers and a civilian. According to Israel’s internal security service, Shin Bet, the suspects are two brothers from East Jerusalem: Murad and Ibrahim Namr, aged 38 and 30. Both were members of Hamas, Shin Bet said. They are also said to have spent years in prison for terrorist activities.
The brothers allegedly used a pistol and an M-16 rifle, according to police. The attack took place during the morning rush hour in the Givat Shaul neighborhood.
