New Record Store in Lelystad: Record Blaster Offers Pop, Funk, Soul, Jazz, and More on Vinyl

From Saturday, lovers of music on vinyl can visit a new record store in the Kroonpassage in Lelystad. From Prince to The Beatles and from Norah Jones to Johnny Jordaan, the large black turntables can be found in the record bins of Record Blaster.

Owner Ralf Veerman had a record store in Baarn last year, but it was not such a success.

“I have noticed that demand is high in Lelystad,” says Veerman, who has now lived in the city for five years. “There is a younger audience here who is looking for vinyl.”

What music is for sale?
“My specialty lies mainly in pop, Top 40, funk soul and jazz, but also hip hop,” says Veerman. He doesn’t have much vinyl yet. All in all about fifteen hundred copies, but that should soon double.

He doesn’t sell classical music. “My experience is that older people have completely switched to CD. That is much easier than putting down a record.”

Curious
An older man who comes to take a look in the store is enthusiastic about a record that is still in the display case. “Look, this one is also nice: Aunt Leen and Johnny Jordaan. I’m going to buy them on Saturday.”
