Marseille: A woman found dead with her throat slit at her home, her companion taken into police custody

News17. She had several stab wounds to her throat. Her companion, aged 86, was in the home and tried to end his life.

It was a nurse who made the terrible discovery shortly after 8 a.m. when she had just arrived at the couple’s home on rue François-Mauriac. The latter came regularly to provide care. She raised the alarm and help quickly arrived on the scene. The death of this woman, lying on her bed, was immediately confirmed. Unfortunately, it was already too late to save her.

The companion was placed in police custody. His motivations remain to be determined. A knife, which he allegedly used to kill the victim, as well as a handgun were seized by the police in the apartment during their findings.

According to a source close to the case, the couple was not known for domestic violence. The octogenarian was until now unknown to the police. “During his first statements, he indicated that he was suffering from cancer and had decided, with his partner, who was depressed, to jointly end their lives”, specifies our source. An investigation was opened and entrusted to departmental security.
