Venezuela Military Operation in Guyana-Essequibo Region

Caracas has launched a military operation to annex the disputed Guyana-Essequibo region. This was reported by the Military Observer telegram channel.

It is noted that there are battles between the Venezuelan army and the forces of the Republic of Guyana.

“Brazil’s armed forces are on high alert in connection with the expected invasion of the Venezuelan army into the territory of the disputed Guyana-Essequibo region,” TK previously wrote.

Earlier, Caracas announced its intention to include into Venezuela the territory disputed with Guyana to the west of the Essequibo River. President of the country Nicolas Maduro, Izvestia reported, has scheduled a consultative referendum on December 3 on the future of the region, rich in natural resources and minerals, which occupies 70% of Guyana’s total area and which Guyana considers its rightful part. Venezuela’s neighbor, in turn, filed a lawsuit with the International Court of Justice. The dispute over the Guyana-Essequibo territory is about 200 years old.
