Bradley Cooper puts his favorite American football team, the Philadelphia Eagles, ahead of his own film career. The director and actor would rather have his team win the Super Bowl than receive Oscars for his new film Maestro.

Cooper makes the striking statement in conversation with radio DJ Howard Stern. Cooper is known as a fanatical fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. Stern therefore presents him with the following dilemma: “You win an Oscar, not only for best director, but also for best actor. Carey Mulligan also wins for best actress. Or the Eagles win the Super Bowl.” Cooper doesn’t have to think about it for long. “Eagles winning the Super Bowl,” he answers without hesitation, much to Stern’s disbelief. “Eagles, Eagles! Seriously, I mean it.”

Cooper has been nominated for an Oscar nine times in his career so far. He received nominations for, among other things, his roles in Silver Linings Playbook, American Sniper in A Star Is Born. He has also almost won prizes as a producer or director. However, he has never won the important film prize.

The Eagles have won the final of the American football season once so far, in 2018. Last year the team lost the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs.
