Ukrainian Foreign Minister Calls for Greater NATO Support in Defense Industry Coordination

The European Union has delivered about 300,000 of its promised millions of projectiles to Ukraine so far, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said on Wednesday while attending a NATO meeting in Brussels.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the event, Kuleba called for greater coordination between Ukraine’s defense industry and NATO to ensure Kiev has the supplies it needs to defeat Russia, which invaded Ukraine in February 2022 Mr.

“We need to create a Euro-Atlantic common space of defense industries,” Kuleba said, adding that this would guarantee both Ukraine’s security and that of NATO countries themselves.

Over the past few months, Kiev has engaged in a concerted effort to attract the world’s leading arms manufacturers to set up operations in Ukraine, as part of its drive to diversify its reliance on weapons and ammunition provided by its allies.

Kuleba rejected a journalist’s claim that the war was now at a stalemate after Ukraine’s summer counter-offensive failed to retake significant amounts of territory occupied by Russia.

“There is no stalemate,” he said before moving on to another question.

Kuleba also said he had a “productive” meeting on Tuesday with Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar.

Slovak President-elect Robert Fico promised to freeze military aid to Ukraine, although he later clarified that he would not block arms purchases by private companies.

“He reiterated that the Ukrainian heavy equipment maintenance center will continue to function in Slovakia. Contracts between Ukrainian and Slovak arms-producing companies will continue,” Kuleba said.
