A previously leaked Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition has appeared on the Microsoft Store, suggesting that an official announcement will take place soon, perhaps at The Game Awards 2023.
This is apparently the second time the game has leaked online, with the US Software Rating Board (ESRB) releasing information in September 2023 that revealed a planned return of Ubisoft’s cult classic adventure. According to information from the ESRB and Microsoft Store, the game is designed for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC and Nintendo Switch, with gameplay optimized for modern audiences.
The 20th Anniversary Edition will reportedly deliver 4K gameplay at 60fps, with “improved graphics, controls and sound, as well as all-new autosave and cross-save features” It will also include “new rewards” for exploring the world, as well as a speedrun mode, new achievements, and a special anniversary gallery revealing more about the game’s development.
Screenshots of the game show that it has undergone a significant visual overhaul to match the scope and ambition of the original game, with these improvements likely to make the gameplay much more accessible.
