Ida is a successful businesswoman with a large fortune. At least, that’s how she presents herself to her victims. This is also the case with Jeroen and Michelle. They first come into contact with Ida when they put their house up for sale. Ida offers 85,000 euros more than the asking price of the house, an offer that the young couple agrees to. “We were happy,” Jeroen says in front of the cameras Sailor Confronts.
The offer frees up extra budget with which Jeroen and Michelle can realize their dream home through a major renovation. But that dream ends in a real nightmare. “You ultimately received 90,000 euros less for your house, you had to move out of your house, you lived with friends and you no longer have the money to renovate it,” Thijs summarizes their misery.
What Jeroen and Michelle do not know at that moment is that Ida buys another house in the same period, namely that of Eveline and her husband. “She wanted to buy our house for her niece,” Eveline explains. Ida pretends to be a woman with a lot of money, who can easily afford this house. “She then told the story that 2.6 million euros was on its way to her company,” Jeroen explains to Thijs.
All parties are happy with the sale of their house, until they are told that the deposit has not been deposited into the notary’s account. “I thought, what kind of bad movie have we gotten ourselves into?” Eveline sighs. As a result, all victims are unable to complete the sale of their home and end up in financial problems, as some of them have already bought a new home.
Thijs immediately investigates and discovers that Ida is not only defrauding homeowners, but also her own staff. “People who work with Ida are disappointed.” This also applies to Asha, a shareholder in one of Ida’s companies. Ida tries to get under Asha’s skin more and more and that gets so out of hand that Asha almost wants to give up her marriage because of it.
Although Asha is almost on the verge of listening to Ida’s manipulative behavior, she ultimately abandons her marriage and realizes in the nick of time what Ida is doing. “A very dangerous person. Really crazy. She only comes to break.” Why Ida shows this behavior is a big mystery to Thijs and his team. It seems that she does not earn a cent from this, but only destroys the lives of her victims.
When Thijs confronts her, Ida still seems to have no idea of her misdeeds. “I think it’s almost laughable,” she says when Thijs explains the seriousness of the matter to her. Ida continues to believe in her own stories, much to the frustration of her victims. “I really notice that I am getting angry. She has no idea what she has done,” says an affected Michelle.
Thijs hopes that the broadcast will mainly warn others not to do business with Ida. “Everyone now knows who she is. Let’s hope no one falls for this woman again.”
