An employee at Bethesda, the developer of Starfield, which was released last September, responded to a negative review criticizing it for having planets devoid of activity.
The comment came from a user named Bethesda_FalcoYamaoka, saying: “We intentionally designed the planets to be empty because all planets are actually empty.”
He added, “It came to give a feeling of smallness in front of that vast universe. When the astronauts landed on the moon, they felt exactly like how you felt when you arrived there.”
“Starfield is an RPG with hundreds of hours of quests to complete and characters to meet,” he continued.
The game developer continued his speech, “Most tasks also differ according to your character’s skills and decisions, which significantly changes the results of the game.”
He added, “Try to create different characters with backgrounds and characteristics that conflict with your previous character. You will feel as if you are playing a completely different game.”
“Put points into different skills from a character you created previously, and you will now have completely different decisions to make and difficulties to face,” he continued.
He concluded, “There are many layers in Starfield, where you will find things that you did not know were possible after playing for hundreds of hours. Even after completing the main story, your adventure does not end, so you can continue to New Game+ to continue exploring Starfield and everything that is there.”
This response has been subjected to severe attack on the Internet since it was published, under the pretext that it is a blatant expression of the company’s laziness and a bad justification for the open world of the game’s lack of creativity and missions.
