The Portuguese convinced the referee in the Asian Champions League game against Persepolis (Iran) to review and ultimately overturn a penalty decision for Ronaldo’s Saudi club Al-Nassr.

The game on Monday evening in Riyadh ended 0-0. Thanks to the point win, Ronaldo’s team moved into the knockout phase of the competition as group winners.
In the duel with the Iranians, Chinese referee Ma Ning whistled a penalty in favor of Ronaldo after a challenge in the penalty area.
The 38-year-old immediately intervened and made it clear to the referee that there was no foul. The referee then looked at the scene again on the TV monitor and made a change after consulting with the video assistant.
