The main topic should be the temperature at which you wash your clothes. Everyone probably knows that on any piece of laundry they can find a label that describes how it should be washed. However, it is usually very general, and it is also necessary to realize that the given values ​​are maximum. So it doesn’t mean you can’t wash them for less.

“You don’t have to follow what you see written on the clothes at all costs. In fact, it is much better to wash clothes for less than what is indicated,” says plumber Miloš. He draws attention to a fact that washing machine manufacturers usually keep silent. “If you wash clothes at 40°C too often, you will basically destroy them very soon. It will be pale in color, shrink and damage delicate fabrics,” explains the expert.

However, that is not all. Washing at forty also means a significantly higher consumption of electricity and also a greater load for the washing machine itself, which will therefore have a shorter life than if you washed at a lower level.

Use things properly

The washing machine expert is convinced that washing at 30 °C is more than enough these days. “However, you should have a really solid washing powder or gel that needs to be used in sufficient quantity. Today, the offer is really wide, so you can find powders for white laundry, woolen laundry or even functional pieces,” explains Mr. Miloš.

A lot of people make the mistake of choosing the highest possible washing temperature if there is a stain on their clothes that they fear might not be washed. But that’s a mistake. First, they should use a stain remover, which will do most of the work, and then just wash at thirty degrees.

“In addition, modern washing machines have come so far that they can wash you well even at 20°C. This is a really gentle program that will ensure the long life of the clothes and the washing machine itself,” concludes the washing machine repairman. A big benefit is energy savings.
