Germany U-17 national team managed to qualify for the final 2023 U-17 World Cup after going through a life-and-death duel against the opponent Argentina in the semifinals which took place at Manahan Stadium, Solo, Tuesday (28/11).

The Argentina vs Germany duel in the semifinals of the U-17 World Cup deserves to be called the best duel in the 2023 U-17 World Cup so far. The reason is, the flow of the battle is unpredictable from start to finish.

Argentina was more aggressive at the start of the match but it was Germany who took the lead through Paris Brunner in the ninth minute. Brunner ruffled the Argentine defense and fired a shot from a relatively narrow angle.

When Germany continued to lead 1-0 until the last 10 minutes, the lead then disappeared. Agustin Ruberto was able to bring Argentina back to a 2-1 lead through two goals scored in the 36th minute and injury time first round.

Germany was then able to take the lead again in a short time. Germany scored two goals in a span of 11 minutes.

The equalizing goal was scored by Paris Brunner in the 58th minute. Brunner fired an accurate shot after taking advantage of an error in a pass from Argentinian goalkeeper Jeremias Florentin.

Meanwhile, Max Moerstedt was able to score Germany’s third goal by taking advantage of Argentina’s back line error in throwing the ball. Moerstedt’s header successfully found the back of Argentina’s goal.

When Germany was ready to celebrate victory, Ruberto again emerged as Argentina’s savior. Ruberto managed to fire a left foot shot which Konstantin Heide couldn’t block.

The score was tied at 3-3 at the end of the match. The match continued into a penalty shootout.

In the penalty shootout, Heide was able to stop two Argentine executors, namely Franco Mastantuono and Claudio Echeverri. Meanwhile, in the German camp, only Finn Jeltsch failed to carry out his duties.

Germany also had the right to advance to the final with a 4-2 win in a penalty shootout. Germany is now just waiting for the winner of the France vs Mali duel.
