Exploring the Creative Legacy of Rūsiņa Rozīte: Conversations in the Museum with Valdis Villerušs

The creative activity of Rūsiņa Rozīte (1943-1978) was diverse – he widely expressed himself in graphics, painting and book illustration. The precisely and succinctly realized ideas of Rūsiņa Rozīte in art were in contrast to his socially active and impulsive personality. Rūsiņš Rozīte often attended balls, theater performances and events of the Latvian Academy of Arts, gathering around him a company of like-minded people.

Among other creative personalities of that time, graphic artist, book illustrator, professor of the Latvian Art Academy Valdis Villerušs was among his closest friends. They were united not only by close friendship since childhood, but also by joint studies at the academy and similar creative interests. In the conversation led by the curator of the exhibition Ilze Putniņas, Valdis Villerušs will invite you to get to know more about the unique creative heritage of Rūsiņas Rozīte, sharing memories about the artist’s personality and what they experienced together.

The educational program “Conversations in the museum” is a thematic event – a tour-narrative-discussion in the museum exhibition, which offers a unique opportunity to get to know the latest exhibitions and various issues contextually related to them in a more comprehensive and deeper way. They are created with the idea that by listening to an interesting narrative and engaging in a discussion, visitors will discover a lot of new things for themselves and others about the values ​​and current affairs of art and culture in Latvia and abroad.

It is recommended to arrive at the museum approximately 15-20 minutes before the start of the event in order to use the cloakroom and cashier services without haste.
