Operation Falsanova: Dog Owners Falsify Vaccination Certifications, Resulting in Three Puppy Deaths

Dog owners inoculated their animals with vaccines without the required certification or veterinary supervision. Three puppies are dead.

‘Falsanova’. This is the name of the operation carried out by the Civil Guard Command in Jaén and which has culminated in the investigation of seven people for an alleged crime of intrusion, document falsification and animal abuse. Dog owners inoculated their animals with vaccines without the required certification or veterinary supervision. Three puppies are dead.

The Seprona investigation began with the complaint, in the month of May, of the death of three puppies supposedly as a result of the inoculation of vaccines by their owner without veterinary supervision. Apparently he bought the doses of parvovirus and distemper for his dogs in a pharmacy in a municipality in Jaén, whose name the Civil Guard does not specify.

To acquire them it seems that he did not need a veterinary prescription. It was then that the Seprona agents carried out an inspection at the pharmacy to verify the correct conservation of the medications, determine the traceability of the batch of vaccine inoculated to the puppies, as well as supervise the related documentation. They wanted to conduct a study of the drugs purchased and dispensed at the establishment.

The result was that they detected irregularities in the documentation provided by the pharmacist. They became aware of the existence of other possible cases of the acquisition of veterinary medicines without a prescription by other individuals, as well as irregularities in the issuance of various veterinary prescriptions.

In this way, the operation was mounted, which has resulted in the investigation of seven people. Four for alleged crime of falsification of official documents, among which is the pharmacist who owns the store. It also investigates asking several professionals to prescribe veterinary prescriptions, in order to be able to justify previous irregular dispensing of medications.

On the other hand, two veterinarians from the province of Granada and one from Jaén are being investigated for facilitating the prescription of the aforementioned prescriptions. Apparently, they altered the delivery dates so that they coincided with the irregular dispensing dates of veterinary medicines.

Three other people have been investigated for an alleged crime of professional intrusion, corresponding to the owners of the dogs who acquired the medications subject to veterinary prescription without the corresponding prescription and inoculated the drugs into their animals, lacking the required qualification and without veterinary supervision. Just as one of the previous ones has also been investigated for the alleged crime of animal abuse, a consequence of the death of three of his puppies, after administering vaccines to them.
