Generally, folic acid or iron and calcium medicines are given during pregnancy. However, many times pregnant women make such mistakes while taking these medicines, due to which not only their body gets diluted but also the child in their womb has to face problems.
The problem of liquefaction of blood in women occurs due to anemia. Pregnant women need blood for both themselves and the child, that is why they are given iron or folic acid tablets from the first trimester of pregnancy itself, so that there is sufficient blood in the body, but due to a mistake, these The pills are not able to show their full effect and even after taking them, blood is not produced in the body. Besides this, there is anemia in the child also.

According to the National Family Health Survey-5, 52.2 percent women aged 15 to 49 years are suffering from anemia. Whereas 67.1 percent children between 6 months to 5 years are anemic. In the country, 59 percent of women at young age i.e. between 15 to 19 years are anemic. This is not the case only in rural areas, but even in educated urban society, there is anemia among women and children.
What mistakes do pregnant women make?
Dr. Manju Puri says that every month 1000 women come to Lady Hardinge Medical College and Kalavati Saran Children’s Hospital for delivery. Anemia has been found in most of these. When women were interviewed, it was found that most of the women make a big mistake in taking iron and calcium tablets during pregnancy. She takes both the pills together. Whereas by doing this, iron does not get absorbed in the body and the iron pill becomes ineffective. Due to this, the body does not get iron and blood cannot be formed. Therefore these women become anemic.
How should iron-calcium tablets be taken?
Dr. Manju Puri says that calcium and iron tablets always have to be taken separately. Calcium tablets should always be taken with food, but iron tablets should be taken 2 hours after food. If you are taking these pills once a day, then try to take these pills with breakfast or lunch and after lunch. Never take these pills at night.
