SBS’ Friday-Saturday drama ‘My Demon’ drew an explosive response by presenting the essence of a fantasy romantic comedy. The salvation of the devil who gives humans finite happiness and leads them to hell. Kim Yoo-jung and Song Kang’s surreal chemistry and delightful tiki-taka, which doubled the excitement and added persuasiveness to the unique worldview of a ‘soul-secured’ romance with a sweet but deadly devil, were perfect. The relationship between Do Do-hee, a devil-like heiress to a conglomerate who ‘growls’ when they meet but reaches out to each other at every moment of crisis, and Salvation, a devil who has lost her powers, created a dizzying excitement. This is why I am looking forward to the future story of how Do Do-hee and Gu-won, who started out as a ‘disgusting relationship’, will lead to a contract marriage.
Viewer reaction also exploded. It ranked first in today’s content integrated rankings released on the 28th by ‘Kenorights’, an OTT integrated search and content recommendation platform. It also took first place in Netflix and Wave rankings, demonstrating its popularity. According to the results announced by FUNdex, the official platform of Good Data Corporation, ‘My Demon’ showed off its power by taking second place in topicality in the TV drama category in the fourth week of November.
Meanwhile, the unreleased cut that was released attracts attention because it contains the timeline of Do Do-hee and Guwon’s sweet and bloody first meeting. Dodo-hee, who goes to the wrong place due to the couple’s manager’s mistake, mistakes Gu-won for Nam. Do Hee, whose charm that steals people’s attention is never lacking, was taken aback by Gu Gu’s arrogant attitude rather than being relaxed, as if ‘this was my first experience like this in my life.’ Guwon, who was trying to retrieve the contractor’s soul and enjoy the sweet time, was also displeased with Do Do-hee’s sudden surprise attack. The encounter between Do Hee, the formidable ‘demonic force’ that made the ‘devil’ Guwon on the edge, and the hateful encounter that made the titular character excited, evoked pleasant laughter from the start and exploded with ‘romance dopamine’.
Do-hee, who seems to be proud and fearless, lives in a fog where she cannot tell who is her friend or enemy. Do Hee is in crisis as a war begins within Mirae Group over the position of successor to Chairman Joo Cheon-sook (played by Kim Hae-sook). What appeared in front of Do-hee, a desperate Do-hee who was threatened with death by someone’s orders, was Gu-gwan, a demon who was wandering around looking for a desperate contractor. Salvation is a devil that exists to make a contract with humans and in return lives a perfect and eternal life. The contract period is ten years, and the condition is ‘soul collateral.’
To escape the crisis, Do Hee had to grab the hand held out by the enchanting devil. The reunion of those drawn by fate raised the heart rate, wondering whether the salvation that appeared in front of Do Do-hee, who was an enemy on all sides, would be a savior or a destroyer.
The moment Do-hee held hands, something unexpected happened to Gu-won. In an instant, he lost his demonic abilities. Guwon was shocked when he discovered that the ‘cross tattoo’, a symbol of the devil, had been transferred to Do Do-hee. Moreover, the fact that her powers can only be unleashed by grabbing Do Do-hee’s wrist further confused Gu-won’s mind. The eye-contact ending in a mysterious water tunnel caused by a large wave was the most heart-pounding scene in episode 1.
Demons that lose their abilities disappear through spontaneous combustion. It is salvation that comes from an unimaginable crisis in a life of perfect evil. Attention is focused on the fate of Salvation, who must somehow return the abilities that Do Do-hee took. Guwon, the demon who holds Do Do-hee’s soul, is in a situation where he must protect him to prevent his own extinction. The momentary reversal of the relationship between humans and demons added to the interest.
In order to regain his abilities, Gu-won approached Do-hee by doing what he does best: bewitching humans. While he was caught off guard, Guwon wrapped him in his arms and jumped into the water. He tried to create the same situation as the day the ‘cross tattoo’ was moved, but the cross tattoo did not return.
Do Hee’s tears, which exploded the emotions she had been struggling to suppress due to the ongoing crisis, shook the heart of salvation. It was another salvation that saved Do Do-hee from a terrorist attack. The two people’s deep eye contact followed by ‘This man came headbutting into my precarious life.’ Do Do-hee’s narration, ‘My salvation is stranger and more suspicious than anyone else’, created extreme excitement, anticipating the coming change.
The production team of ‘My Demon’ said, “In this week’s 3rd and 4th broadcasts, a turning point comes in the relationship between Do Do-hee and Guwon. Please look forward to what changes will happen to Do Do-hee, who is in crisis, and to Guwon, who stands by her side.”
Meanwhile, episode 3 of ‘My Demon’ will be broadcast at 10 PM on December 1.
