Raiffeisenbank in the Czech Republic is canceling the accounts of entrepreneurs with cryptocurrencies, but its Austrian relative perceives digital currencies in a completely different light. In January, clients of the Viennese branch of one of the regional banks, Raiffeisenlandesbank, which jointly owns the Czech mother Raiffeisenbank, will see offers for trading bitcoin and crypto directly in their internet banking. While the Czech Raiffeisenbank, according to e15, will continue to keep its distance from crypto, other financial houses in German-speaking countries are also starting to mediate investments in virtual currencies.
Raiffeisenlandesbank NÖ-Wien, the regional network of Raiffeisen banks for the area of Vienna and Lower Austria, wants to be closest to regular clients. The latter deepened cooperation with the Austrian investment platform Bitpanda.
“Our clients will be able to use the Raiffeisen mobile application to access Bitpanda services. It will work from a user perspective similar to sending money from account to account, with the same level of security that clients are used to.” describing for the Coindesk server Curt Chadha, director of innovation at the Raiffeisen holding, which owns the Viennese Raiffeisenlandesbank. However, it will not be possible to pay with cryptocurrencies purchased in this way or transfer them to your own digital wallet.
