The Move of Queen Nikkolah Event: Alderman Hafsa El-Bazioui’s Statement and Plans for the Future

Alderman Hafsa El-Bazioui (Green) states that the organizer will now look for a new location. “The event certainly deserves a place in our city. It is a valuable initiative to have an open debate about inclusivity. The town hall is not the best location, and there was no traditional Sinterklaas party before.” El-Bazioui also emphasizes that it concerns one activity: “The existing Sinterklaas celebrations, the arrival of Saint Nicholas, activities at schools and staff events will remain as before.”

The event around Queen Nikkolah did not only have opponents. There have been 200 registrations so far. It means there is demand for it. The approach of the event, even at a different location, will not change. A meeting with Queen Nikkolah is on the program and old, traditional Sinterklaas books can be exchanged for modern books without stereotypical images.
