In the future, the trial process for conglomerates and politicians is expected to be made more transparent.
The judiciary, which has been heavily criticized for overlooking politicians accused of corruption by delaying trials, has decided to push ahead with a plan to expand broadcasting, which only allowed Supreme Court trials, to include first-trial trials in order to restore public trust.
If it begins next year, there is a possibility that Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung’s trial will also be broadcast.
Reporter Kim Tae-hoon reports.

Most of the trial process was released on video.
In most U.S. states, the constitution allows not only TV broadcasting but also Internet broadcasting.
In Korea, broadcasting of Supreme Court trials is allowed, with limited restrictions.
However, starting next year, a plan to allow trial broadcasting from the lower court level is being promoted.
A recent research conducted by the National Court Administration found that 87.9% of the public is in favor of live broadcasting of trials.
The approval rate was low at 48.5% of prosecutors and 44.7% of judges, but the approval rate among legal scholars was high at 92.3%.
The National Court Administration plans to form a task force early next year to prepare for a pilot project.

The National Court Administration has accelerated the expansion of trial broadcasting to restore trust in the judiciary and ensure the public’s right to know.
If a pilot project is conducted at the Seoul Central District Court, there is a possibility that part of Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung’s trial will be broadcast.
However, to protect personal information, juvenile crimes and sex crimes will not be disclosed, and background check processes will be excluded from general trials, or technical methods such as the use of delayed relay will be used.
The establishment of a new ‘court broadcasting station’ as the subject of trial broadcasting is being considered.
The service report suggested 2025 as the target for opening, saying that it would be desirable to operate it as a public broadcasting station similar to KTV or the National Assembly Broadcasting.
