New York among the 10 states affected by snow storm – El Diario NY

A storm that causes sleet and accumulation of snow in some regions affects 14 million peoples in at least 10 states in the central and eastern coast of the United States.

The storm has different impacts on each entity, for example, in New York, the northern region, in the city of Buffalo, is experienced with greater intensity, although the cold also impacts the south, including the city of New York.

Most snow accumulation will remain closer to lakessuch as parts of northern Michigan, northwestern Pennsylvania, as well as Illinois, where up to two feet of snow is expected, according to Accuweather.

“Residents most at risk for heavy snowfall are those in northern Michigan, northeast of Cleveland, Ohio, around Erie, Pennsylvania, and south of Buffalo or north of Syracuse in New York,” the report states.

This phenomenon is part of the 26 storms expected in the winter season, according to a calculation by The Weather Channel.

The snow that began after Thanksgiving extends from the Plains to the Great Lakes to the northern part of the east, impacting more than 14 million people.

The National Weather Service notes that temperatures dropped dramatically, even 30 degrees in some spots, so below-normal temperatures were expected from New Mexico to Kansas and from Oklahoma to the upper Midwest.

The snowstorm affected dozens of flights that were delayed or canceled, according to an additional report from NBC News.

The hardest hit regions could face up to 8 inches of snow and experience strong winds of up to 40 mph, the weather report notes.

In some areas, the snow will dissolve easily, although sleet or persistent rain could fall.

“Temperatures are expected to be warm enough to keep precipitation in the form of rain,” the Weather Service said.
