Portuguese MotoGP Team Denied 2024 Season Due to Repeated Infractions and Breaches of Participation Agreement

Decision is justified with “repeated infractions and breaches of the participation agreement”

The RNF team, in which the Portuguese Miguel Oliveira raced, does not have a contract to race in the 2024 MotoGP season, the organizations responsible for the competition announced this Monday.

“The MotoGP Selection Committee, which includes members of the FIM [Federação Internacional de Motociclismo]from IRTA [associação de equipas] and from Dorna [organizador]decided not to select the CryptoDATA RNF team for the 2024 season”, read a statement from MotoGP.

In the same document, the decision is justified by “repeated infractions and breaches of the participation agreement, which affect the public image of MotoGP”.

“The Selection Committee will review applications for a new independent team, which will use Aprilia engines, to join the MotoGP grid in 2024”, says the organization.

Miguel Oliveira moved to the Aprilia satellite team this season, after racing for KTM in his first four seasons in MotoGP, and, like Spaniard Raul Fernandez, has a direct contract with the Italian manufacturer for 2024.

The Portuguese finished the championship in 16th place, with 76 points, in a season with several incidents and injuries that kept him out of some races, having even missed the last Grand Prix, in Valencia, on Sunday.
