Minister of Commerce Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) talked about his experience when accompanying President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) working visits to various countries some time ago.
Zulhas conveyed this during the Joint Working Meeting with Commission VI DPR RI, Monday (27/11).
Initially, Zulhas told of the time he accompanied Jokowi to meet US President Joe Biden at the White House. Zulhas said Biden really respects Jokowi.
“There was one interesting thing, a 10 minute meeting. So I was also surprised by what kind of knowledge Mr Jokowi has, Biden is respectful, Xi Jinping (president of China) is respectful, his name is Putin (president of Russia) respects the president, we are proud,” said Zulhas.
He then said that during the meeting, Biden asked Jokowi to reveal what the US could do to help Indonesia. Jokowi also responded by asking Biden to call Israel for a ceasefire against Palestine.
Apart from that, said Zulhas, Jokowi also asked Biden to help Indonesia become part of the global electric vehicle supply chain.
Meanwhile, during a visit to China, XI Jinping asked Jokowi to say what the Bamboo Curtain Country could do to help.
“The president said he didn’t ask for anything, everything else was already done, the car was fast, ‘Please help us with rice’. The answer was that whatever was asked was given, including rice,” added Zulhas.
President Jokowi recently visited China and the United States. He visited China for several purposes, one of which was attending the Belt and Road Initiative Summit and holding a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Meanwhile to the US, the visit was made to attend the APEC Summit and hold a bilateral meeting with President Joe Biden to urge him to call for a ceasefire between Israel and Palestine.
