Barbie Sequel: Margot Robbie’s Outlook and Box Office Success

FILMAfter the great success of the film ‘Barbie’, a sequel seems like a logical step, but lead actress and producer Margot Robbie (33) does not want to give fans too much hope. In an interview with ‘Associated Press’, the Australian actress tempers expectations. “I can’t imagine what comes next.”

LOOK. Margot Robbie: “We put everything into the first ‘Barbie’”

“We put all our energy and ideas into this film. It wasn’t the plan to make it a trilogy. Greta (Gerwig, ed.) has put everything into this, so I can’t imagine what comes next,” says the actress, who is happy that ‘Barbie’ has scored so well at the box office. “That is important, so that people who have big original ideas in the future also get the budget to implement them properly.”

In an earlier interview, Robbie stated that a possible sequel would depend on Greta. “I wouldn’t want to do it without her,” she said. But the director announced last summer that no plans have yet been made for a sequel. “Right now this is all I have in me,” Gerwig said at the time about the first print. “After every film I think I will never have another idea and that I have done everything I wanted to do. Right now I’m completely empty.”

Most successful film of the year

‘Barbie’ was the most successful film of the year in cinemas. The print grossed almost $1.4 billion worldwide. In the film, the world’s most popular doll, played by Margot Robbie, goes out. She leaves Barbieland and travels to the ‘real world’. The role of her boyfriend, Ken, is played by Ryan Gosling. The star-studded cast also includes singer Dua Lipa, ‘Bridgerton’ actress Nicola Coughlan, ‘Ugly Betty’ star America Ferrera, ‘Elf’ actor Will Ferrell, Hollywood star Helen Mirren, ‘Doctor Who’ actor Ncuti Gatwa and comedy actress Kate McKinnon.
