More widespread snow and rain showers are expected in the new week. The DWD predicts maximum temperatures of five degrees Celsius for Monday, with a maximum of two degrees in the mountains. In the days that follow, the values hover around freezing point, so beware of slippery roads and sidewalks.
Start of the winter sports season in Thuringia
“The winter sports season has begun,” announced the Thuringian Forest regional association. The first cross-country skiing routes are available in Oberhof and Masserberg. There are currently around ten kilometers of prepared routes.
The conditions were very good for a winter hike – eleven winter hiking trails were prepared. However, fans of alpine sports still have to be patient. None of the ski lifts are currently open. The snow tubing facilities are also currently closed.
